Garage Sale

To kick off the summer, this weekend we’re having Life Lessons Garage Sale. We’ve asked artists to donate items from their studio or practice. The items aren’t capital “A” art, though—they’re old tools, abandoned sketches, forgotten ephemera that have been sitting quietly in the dark corners of studios. In the true spirit of garage sales, Life Lessons wants to offer up these items that might be cast away so they can find new life in new hands. All proceeds will go to Rockaway Artists Alliance.

A little more about us: Life Lessons is a curatorial support structure that organizes art installations and events in alternative spaces throughout New York. A little more about Rockaway Artists Alliance: Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA) is a non-profit arts organization headquartered on the Rockaway peninsula. RAA’s mission is to encourage and engage residents of its community, particularly its youth and seniors, in the arts and cultural activities, including after-school, summer day camp, art classes and in-school art instruction for youth; juried visual art exhibitions and solo shows; regularly scheduled musical, performance and literary events; and art classes for adults and seniors.
